PACFA Certified Practicing Counsellor

Support for when life feels

heavy, unclear, or overwhelming

At Hart Counselling, I offer individual counselling for people aged 16 and older, both in-person in Joondalup and online across Australia. Sessions are a safe, confidential space to explore what’s going on in your inner world — at your pace, and in your own way.

About Me

I'm Louise, a qualified counsellor and the founder of Hart Counselling. I hold a Bachelor of Counselling from the University of Notre Dame and am a PACFA Certified Practising Counsellor.

I’m originally from the UK and have been living in Perth since 2012. Over the years, I’ve come to deeply value the strength it takes to adapt, grow, and stay true to ourselves through life’s transitions — something I bring into the heart of my counselling work.

People often describe me as calm, kind, and thoughtful. I bring presence, patience, and a gentle curiosity into the counselling space. Outside of my work, I find joy in quiet moments — walking by the ocean, reading, or spending time with people I care about.

Qualifications &
Background

  • Bachelor of Counselling – University of Notre Dame

  • PACFA Certified Practising Counsellor

  • 25 years’ experience supporting young people and adults in a variety of settings

  • Ongoing professional development in areas such as trauma, self-compassion, and boundary work

I’m deeply committed to ethical, reflective practice, and regularly engage in supervision and further learning to support the quality of care I offer.

My Approach

My practice is person-centred, integrative, and humanistic, which means our sessions will always be guided by your needs, at your pace. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, tailored to suit you, while staying rooted in the belief that you are the expert in your own life.

My work is relational and trauma-informed. I aim to offer a space where all parts of you are welcome — including the ones that feel messy, uncertain, or hard to talk about. Together, we’ll explore patterns, develop insight, and create space for change.

Common Areas of Support

You might be:

  • Feeling anxious, overwhelmed or stuck

  • Experiencing low mood or depression

  • Struggling with relationships, boundaries, or communication

  • Moving through grief, loss, or life transitions

  • Feeling lost in your identity or self-worth

  • Carrying emotional pain or trauma you'd like to explore gently

You don’t need to have everything ‘figured out’ to begin therapy. If something feels difficult, confusing or heavy — that’s enough reason to reach out.

Counselling with me is grounded in a person-centred, integrative, and humanistic approach. This means:

  • We’ll work together in a way that honours your unique story and values

  • You are always in control of the pace and focus of our sessions

  • The therapeutic relationship is based on warmth, empathy, and trust

I believe meaningful change happens not through fixing or forcing, but by gently understanding what’s going on beneath the surface — and reconnecting with who you are.
